About
I earned a bachelor of arts in anthropology from LSU in the last quarter of the 20th century, concentrating in cultural anthropology and ethnography.
The first personal computer that I had access to was installed in my office in 1983. No documentation came with it for the operating system (DOS 2.11), word processor (WordStar 3.3), or spreadsheet program (Lotus 1-2-3 v. 1A). I was instantly in love with a typing technology wherein errors could be corrected and text revised before printing. I attended user group meetings and read computer magazines to learn the vocabulary. Through the largess of my father's lump sum retirement fund, I was able to purchase my own dream machine in 1986.
All the work I've done since then involves personal computers. I have moved between training, publication design/writing, and technical support as opportunities have arisen.
I am currently taking classes in Geographic Information Systems, using ESRI software. It is exciting to use software that puts the world at your fingertips. It's also a novel experience to be the student instead of the teacher.
